Patagonia Trip: Day 8

Finally Miss Natalie got her act in gear and typed up the Patagonia Journal... i offered to do it after our next excursion. We are headed to the Norte Chico, aka north but not the FAR north next weekend.
I am in a really good mood because 1, i bought a really cute head band at the mall today for only 3 dollars, and 2, my cousin Carrie is preggers and she's having a girl! It is so exciting all of these babies and the new generation popping up...it is just fantastic. I love it!
I was going to update on some things that have been happening on my daily walks to school, but i'll save that for a different post and complete my patagonia trip finally!

9/4/11
Day 8
7AM- woke up and meet our roomies from England! (they were already asleep when we got in the night before)

7:30AM-breakfast-yay! more carbs (seemed to be the theme).

8AM- taxi to bus terminal (AG$10, USD 2.50)

8:30AM- board bus to Puerto Natales.. crossing the border took forever!! (long lines)
-arrive at 2PM in Puerto Natales with plans to board bus to Punta Arenas... We were super tired, and a woman approached us. She offered us a hostal $7000 (USD 14.00) with breakfast. Drove in her car to hostal far from center of town.
Creepy satin bed covers- weird rules of hostal:
1. Don't put bags on satin bed cover.
 2. NO frying anything- because it smells. Only allowed to make pasta or salad... overall weird cat lady atmosphere... no one else seemed to be in hostal- we want TIN HOUSE!! :( (Tin House was the hostal that we stayed in the first time we were in Puerto Natales)

3:20PM-leave to find bus tickets... hostal very far away from center (woman lied).

Purchased Bus Ferndandez $4000 for 10am mañana

3:40-4PM wandered to find cafe- almost everything is closed! Found "cafe centra" ate pizza and sandwich (loboliso- thing strips of meat).

NEXT STEP: big-ass chilean style ICE CREAM. (instead of the little baby tiny ones we got from Argentina)

sign in store: handmade mug painted by disabled people. (So we were in this store, and i saw this sign. That is one thing about Chileans...they are not very PC. They will say anything).

--->Got ice cream $600 - chocolate with almonds in waffle cone... can't imagine being allergic to something while traveling! (there are no signs or anything, you could eat something and you would have no idea if there were nuts in it!!)

5pm Internet cafe!

5:30pm walk to water. beautiful sun and clouds and mountains... see hand sculpture.
birds, and beautiful mountains in the background!

I love you!

Natalie on top of the finger. (hand sculpture)

6pm walked to unimarc, bought dinner and lunch supplies. the guy wouldn't let abby weigh her cucumber...
(this deserves an explanation. CHILE IS WEIRD! in the grocery store instead of them weighing the fruits and vegetables at the check out, you need to weigh them at the little stand in the fruits and veggies section, although there usually isn't anyone there. So once I found a guy to weight my cucumber, he wouldn't let me... with my lack of spanish i had NO clue what he was talking about!!)

7pm return to hostal. toilet problem... have to talk to grumpy owner- fixed!

8pm-  Natalie jokingly says what if she doesn't let us cook dinner.

8:45 go to kitchen to cook and she wouldn't let us. she thought it was too late. She was saying how she had to set up breakfast for the next day, when really that meant NOTHING. She finally let us make some rice and soup and cucumbers... we cleaned it up!

10pm BED!

Sorry there weren't much pictures taken at the end of our trip... There wasn't much to see that we hadn't already taken pictures of.
